The Secretary, Department of Home Affairs, has asked for my advice in connection with the improper use of the name of the Commonwealth Statistician in the following advertisement appearing in a Queensland newspaper:
MR KNIBBS,
COMMONWEALTH GOVERNMENT STATISTICIAN,
has published figures showing that Queensland
beer is the best in Australia,
and
PERKINS
FIRST PRIZE
BEER
leads the way.
So far as I am aware no offence against any Commonwealth or State law has been committed by the publication of the advertisement in question.
